This role serves as a key technical resource within the design review process, providing expertise, ensuring quality of execution, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across value streams.

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Technical Engineer is responsible for independently reviewing, validating, and approving technical outputs to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and alignment with client requirements and operational capabilities. This role serves as a key technical resource within the design review process, providing expertise, ensuring quality of execution, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across value streams.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Independently interpret, review, and validate client design drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
- Independently review client requirements/specifications and check for omissions and/or discrepancies.
- Review client design data and ensure that their requirements are adhered to in the most cost-effective manner, and that manufacturing capabilities are considered during the design review process.
- Review outputs from the vetting process for completeness and correctness prior to release to Operations.
- Collaborate with Operations in continuous improvement initiatives to improve the quality of the Technical outputs being released for production.
- Provide technical troubleshooting expertise related to programming issues on the cutting lines.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, omissions, and risks within client requirements and design documentation.
- Ensure technical outputs are fully aligned with manufacturing capabilities and business objectives.
- Sign-off verification to approve and formally release Engineering Masters to ensure all design, manufacturing, and compliance requirements are satisfied prior to release to manufacturing.
- Sign-off verification to approve and formally release drawings.
- Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of technical outputs released to operations.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for programming issues on cutting lines and CMM systems.
- Coordinate and validate Authorized Plant Trials (APTs), ensuring technical requirements are met.
- Maintain deep knowledge and understanding of JSC Best Practices, equipment capabilities, client specifications, and types of electrical steels.
- Keep abreast of developments/technology/trends in the industry.
- Provide backup technical support to other JSC value streams as required.
- Mentor and train Technical team members where appropriate.
- Active participation in continuous process improvement projects.
- Manage assigned technical projects to ensure scope, quality, and timelines are achieved.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 5–8 years of experience in manufacturing or technical environment.
- Experience with design review and manufacturing processes.
