How you’ll make an impact
JSC is seeking a Shipper/Receiver to join our growing team. Reporting to the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor, the Shipper/Receiver will check shipments received against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders or any other related documents to ensure that discrepancies or damages are identified.
The Shipper/Receiver position requires a 40-hour workweek, including mandatory shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The remaining 20 hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday in accordance with the rotating Shipping/Receiving schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping (Outbound)
Process and execute outbound shipments accurately and on time
Verify orders, quantities, part numbers, packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation to ensure 100% shipment accuracy
Prepare bills of lading, packing slips, customs documentation, and other required carrier paperwork
Schedule freight pickups and coordinate with carriers to ensure timely delivery
Follow customer routing guides and special handling instructions
Process shipments using ERP and/or warehouse management systems (WMS)
Maintain accurate shipment records including weights, dimensions, and freight classifications
Provide shipment tracking information to internal teams and customers as required
Assist with prioritizing and expediting urgent or time-sensitive shipments
Investigate and report shipping discrepancies, damages, or delays to the Supervisor
Receiving (Inbound)
Receive incoming materials, components, and finished goods
Verify packing slips against purchase orders and confirm quantities and part numbers
Inspect incoming shipments for damage, shortages, or non-conformance and report issues to Quality or Purchasing
Accurately enter receipts into ERP/WMS systems
Label and properly store materials in designated warehouse locations
Coordinate with internal departments regarding material availability and discrepancies
Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and material verification
Maintain clear documentation of receiving transactions and discrepancies
Safely assist with the decanning and decoiling operations process
General Warehouse & Compliance Responsibilities
Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
Operate material handling equipment including forklifts (Counterbalance, Raymond Reach, Combi) as required
Maintain accurate inventory locations and finished goods tracking
Follow all Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and company safety policies
Promote safe material handling practices and proper equipment operation
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping/receiving area in accordance with 5S standards
Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
Work overtime as operational needs dictate
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
2–3 years of shipping and/or receiving experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS)
Working knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures
Experience preparing shipping documentation and coordinating freight carriers
Forklift (Counterbalance, Raymond Reach, and/or Combi) and overhead crane experience required
Knowledge of steel grades and steel customs documentation is an asset
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow procedures and work independently with minimal supervision
